Tennessee superintendents group names new executive director

The head of Hamblen County Schools has been chosen to lead Tennessee’s professional superintendents organization, the group announced Wednesday.

Dale Lynch

Beginning in July, Dale Lynch becomes executive director of the Tennessee Organization of School Superintendents, also known as TOSS.

He succeeds retiring executive director Wayne Miller, who for four years has led the group now comprised of 142 superintendents.

Lynch has been an education administrator for nearly 25 years, the last 16 of which has been at the helm of Hamblen County Schools in East Tennessee. In 2014, he was named TOSS’s Superintendent of the Year. He recently was a finalist in the search for Knox County’s next superintendent.

Founded in 1975, TOSS advocates on state policies affecting Tennessee schools and provides professional development for district leaders, among other things.
