Deep freeze forces Shelby County Schools to cancel classes

Shelby County school district’s students will have one more day off for winter break  due to the frigid temperatures in the MidSouth this week.  Shelby County School officials announced Monday evening that classes will be cancelled Tuesday because of dangerously low temperatures and wind chills, which raises concern for student safety.  In addition to classes, all after-school and evening activities are also cancelled. Classes will resume on Wednesday when temperatures are expected to reach in the mid 40s. All district employees, except bus drivers and cafeteria workers, are expected to report to work on Tuesday.  Employees can visit www.scsk12.org for more details or contact their supervisors.
